Technically, roses do not have true thorns, but 'prickles'.
Hence the famous saying, "Life is a bed of roses. Watch out for the pricks".

That fascinating fact aside, the prickles can be very dangerous as animals often rub against them, leaving hair and bacteria behind. Always wear gloves when handling roses to avoid opening skin for bacterial infections such as flesh-eating bacteria or tetanus.

I have a friend who almost lost her hand due to just such an incident. She no longer grows roses.

There isn't any poison in the thorns, but who knows, if you are allergic, you may have a reaction. I'm not a doctor, but I'm just saying...that could be a possibility.

Thorns don't typically have poison on them, unless you've sprayed them with poison beforehand. (A tip for that lame ex-boyfriend of yours.)

no in fact tomatos are part of the rose family and if u smell a home grown --you can smell a faint whiff of rose-if it has any kind of chemical defense mechanism --its not effective on humans-and is a part of our food source. but anything that brakes the skin can introduce germs ,dirt , and other things that may sting.
