weed killer. Or you could put down some plastic just under the dirt to prevent stuff from growing where you dont' want it to. Or lay plastic down and then some decorative stones or wood chips etc..

I have to constantly spray round up or weed killer. I don't think there's any permanent solution. When you kill the weeds there, before long, new weed seeds get blown in and new plants start. About all you could do is make it really inhospitable for all plant life, like pouring salt there, but I think that would hurt your walkway.

to easy--cover in a heavy plastic -dark a s possible-put rocks on top to keep from blowing off --and in couple weeks u should be weed free-in the south -we never have a freeze -so we have to do this to garden beds to kill bad bugs--that thrive year round -we dont not have snow -but we have plastic, rocks and sun-and it works--then take the plastic up once the stuff you dont want is dead

Ortho makes a product called total vegetation killer. You saturate the walkway and nothing will grow for months!
