I want a nice pine bannister with no fixing showing. How easy is it to acheive?

I have seen the ballestrades being sold for just 95pence at B and Q and the hand rail itself for just £25 odd. Im sure if it was to be painted after, it would be easy to put together because you can paint over the screws etc but when its left just varnished how is it done??

a person appears continuously, from room to room. My stuff moves around the house. I cook and even my cooking stuff goes missing.. i have fitted wardrobes, opening and closing at will all night. lights where there should be none. an atmosphere that can change from "normal" to "chilling" in seconds............. I see a person or a shape like a person from my peripheral (side) vision, turn around, and no one is there...... but my whole enviromental feel is changed... I have had enough. I am scared.

I really think I can do this (pour my own) and I want to really bad, however, the web sights that I find do not really get to the point about adding color, or where to buy the coloring for that matter. I am not so good at reading all the ins and outs of concrete countertop. There has to be a simple plan as far as mixing everything. Can you get everything you need at Lowes or do you have to buy from specialty concrete dealers? I know about building the molds and other construction details. I want dark countertops like coal. Can any body give me real step by step information about mixing, coloring, and sealing. There has to be a way to keep it simple. Can anyone help? I can't afford to pay anyone to do this because I have spent all our money on everything else, and it seems pointless to put anything in there that I will want to change later. Any good information would be greatly appreciated. My mind gets boggled when confronted with to many details, like algebra.

There are long vertical cracks running along where the corner joint tape would be on the drywall. Since the cracks are on the outer corner, the paint/plaster is cracking off also. How do i go about fixing this? Do I take a knife/spatula and take all of the old tape off and redo it? Are there step-by-step instructions somewhere?

My big concern is that when you take the corner off, it leaves a dent of about 1/8" and after you re-plaster, add tape, sand it down etc. it may end up looking messy and not sharp as before if you don't do it right. I'd like to know any specific instructions, tips or advice.

thanks!

If you put a regular stamp on one side of an index card along with an adress (like a postcard) would you be able to mail it? Almost like a homemade postcard. Would regular postage be fine? Is there anything special you would have to do with it?

I removed the toilet to get rid of a clog, and when I did so I noticed a rusted toilet flange. So I purchase a 4" flange, but it will not fit around the pipe running to the toilet. There is a gasket of some sort that appears to be connected to the pipe that needs to be removed prior to installing the new flange into the floor. Any ideas on how to remove this gasket?

The gasket is cone shaped and around the outside it says "4x3" "Ring must be fastened to floor". It looks like if this was removed, the flange screwed into the floor, and then this gasket slid back into the pipe through the flange it would mate perfectly.

The instructions for my new laminate floor says to leave a space around the perimeter of the room and cover it with quarter round.
The only problem is that on one side of the sunken living room there are brick steps. So how can I attach the quarter round to that? I was thinking some kind of glue.

and it will probably be taken out of my security deposit. Obviously, it will be quite a bit of money and my wife and I don't have the funds for this to happen, is there any way that I can fix this problem either by coming up with another excuse to tell the apartment community or and DIY ways to fix the carpet. It's about a foot and a half long maybe an inch thick and is coming from the wall to the middle of the hallway, near the garage door. That's the best description possible. Thanks a lot.

I have a free standing electric range (that sits flush against the wall) that needs to be replaced. Can I just do that myself if I have it delivered? Is it a simple procedure? I can have the old one picked up by the bulk trash people. But I don't want to screw up the installation. I know this may sound stupid, but is it just a matter of plugging the new one in where the old one was? Or is it more complicated than that? Of course I'm replacing the old one with a new one of the same size, components, etc. Thanks for the help!
