It's a very large mirror. Have no idea how it was put on. It is at least 28 years old. Does anyone have some ideas on how to get it off?

put duct tape all over it (from corner to corner, and up and down), then try to pry it ff the wall with a crow bar. The tape is to protect you from the mirror shattering all over the place.

First of all. GET SOME HELP LIFTING THE MIRROR..WEAR EYE AND HAND PROTECTION. Older mirrors were applied with clips, caulking, mirror adhesive. First, If it has clips over the edge of the mirror at the top and the base of the mirror, The top clips are spring loaded. . Try to push the clips upward. Be gentle. Gently lift the mirror and discard it. If there are no clips. Cut around the mirror with a sharp utility knife. With a few cedar shims, GENTLY force them between the mirror and wall "without" to much force. Use a hair dryer to heat the adhesive. If the mirror starts to come off GENTLY PULL FROM ALL 4 SIDES IF POSSIBLE.

If there are clips on the edges, remove some of the top ones. See if you can slide a thin piece of metal behind it and feel any adhesive between the mirror and the wall. Be careful not to scratch the silver off the back of the mirror. Good luck.

Omigosh, if I had a really large mirror like that, ANYWHERE would be a good place to put it. Cherish what you've got, man. Don't take it off.

back in the day they glued them to the wall so it's going to some off in pieces no matter what you do, tape every inch of it so when it comes down it doesn't cut the heck out of you.
