and it will probably be taken out of my security deposit. Obviously, it will be quite a bit of money and my wife and I don't have the funds for this to happen, is there any way that I can fix this problem either by coming up with another excuse to tell the apartment community or and DIY ways to fix the carpet. It's about a foot and a half long maybe an inch thick and is coming from the wall to the middle of the hallway, near the garage door. That's the best description possible. Thanks a lot.

If you have a closet that you can remove carpet from, you will still need an installer to do the job of repairing the hallway damage--check with local carpet businesses for a carpet remnant that you can have the installer put in the closet.
It should be lot cheaper than replacing the whole hallway.

When I lived in an apt. a couple of yrs. ago, the carpet in my entryway became so worn that I finally called management to send someone to look/fix it.The "carpet man" who came out AFTER the maintenance man, went into my coat closet and cut a piece out from the back of my closet- where the carpet was like new....I was surprised that after all was said and done, my entryway looked great! Sorry but unless you talk to them and they are going to tear the carpet up anyway, you are responsible for your pet's damages. If you lie to them they will know anyway... plus they may disallow pets in the future due to people not being responsible for them.
