There is a house near me that is going to be torn down this summer. There is an established Meyer Lemon that produces huge Lemons. I can't dig up the tree, but I would like to take the biggest cutting I can and grow a new tree. How can you get a branch to root? 30 years ago in Hawaii, I saw someone scrap the bark off of an 8" segment of a branch of a tangerine tree, apply root-tone (--I think), and then apply muddy, wet moss and leaves over the exposed area (-- I think), and then they wrapped plastic all around and then wire tie the ends. The only thing I am 100% sure of is the plastic and the wire and that they came back a couple months later and sawed off the tree branch and it had grown roots under the plastic deal. Then they planted it in their yard. It grew. This is how I remember it being done. Does anyone know exactly how to do this?

I'd like to cut ptfe (teflon) at home and make rods that are less than 2mm in diameter. [like tuflon.com]. I can't afford a water jet cutter!!! Something really small. I just want to experiment with this type of thing. Is there some type of tool that works like a compass except cuts 1/2 in thick? I am not in the know about tools and such (as you can probably tell). Is there someplace that can make a hole puncher type thing in my specified diameter? Thanks in advance.

It is a Brother electronic sewing machine...I know it's about 15 years old...It is computerized with an LCD screen (a tiny one) and has 21 stitches... I CANT find my manual, and don't know my model number and so cannot locate a manual online without the model number.

If you need more details, please let me know and I will tell you all I can.

Would love to replace laundry and toilet tiled floors with a concrete finished floor but just don't know how to go about it. Have searched internet but found little on pulling up existing floor tiles and using concrete slab under these to either polish or stain. Live in Darwin so this flooring is apparently cool and good for high traffic areas. Suggestions please!

I have a 100lb service dog and I am having a new custom made leather harness built for him. I need to have ridged steel handle built to attach to the harness. It must be able to bear my weight (125lb) when I lean on the bar.

I was thinking of doing it myself but I don't know if it is possible. I would have to bend it 3 times and drill between 8 and 12 holes on either end of the metal.
__/l
l....l
If you look at the above picture you can see that the two ends must be straight down and consist of two of the bends. The left side will be a 90 degree bend and the next bend would allow the other side to rise 2 inches over 4.5 inches.

Is this possible to do at home with minimal tools and minimal experience? I have bent aluminium with proper tools before. I have a torch, stove and other basic tools at my disposal. I am resourceful and always up to a project.

Do I have to do this cold or can I heat the metal properly with either a torch or stove?

I have a Thorn Olympic 20/35B Hot Water boiler, and with the UK battered by high winds today, the Pilot Light went out, I'm following the instructions to relight it but it won't relight. I can see the ignition attempting to relight the pilot light through the window, but no matter how long I keep the button pressed, it doesn't relight? Any suggestions? Also the instructions say I need to switch off the electricity to relight the Pilot Light. Is this correct? I have to reset all the clocks/timers in the house, when the electricity is switched off.

Any ideas on places to get scrap materials or neat (and inexpensive) "extras" that could be added? I've got a good location picked out and would like to get started in the Spring. Just wondering if anyone has tips from their own experience.

The Back Story:
The town home was probably built in the late 70's and decorated like it. The original wallpaper in the half bath was hideous so my finacee tried to remove it only to find an even WORSE wallpaper underneath. It's now gone from "swinger suave" to looking like something my great grandmother would have picked out. Now we've only been able to remove a portion of THAT wallpaper because I think it's become molecularly bonded to the sheet rock over all these years.

The Goal:
Cover up the walls in the half bath with, pretty much ANYTHING at this point.

The Problem:
I feel I lack the skill to wallpaper over other wallpaper successfully and we don't have the budget to get some contractors in to do this for us. So I want to find some easy and inexpensive decorating ideas that will keep our guest from thinking that faded 3-foot sunflowers was part of some decorating motif.

Thanks.

I've been working on my room for a while. In Sept. My Dad and I went in and painted my room. Since then, We've been buying things to go with the new theme. Now that it's January, my parents are wondering why I'm not sleeping in my room. And to be honest, my room is so much of a STY that I can't get to my bed, none the less open my door. I need some serious help to get my room clean. I have horrible cleaning skills, and I need assistance. I'm too embarrassed to have my parents see my room, that I have to lie to get them off the topic! So how can I get my room clean?? Please help me...

I have a gas furnace with a pilot light, and my current thermostat is a mechanical one that has only one stage and it is located in the living room.
When all the vents of the heating system are open, the living room gets hot real fast and the heating stops while our bedrooms are still freezing.
When I close the living room vents and leave just the bedrooms' vents open the heating never stops, we get steamed and the living room is too cold.

These are wonderfully old uprights with upholstered seats. I do not know the kind of wood, but they are English (as I am) and a carpenter relative made them in the 1920s I believe. Now, they are not rickety, but the wood is dull, no shine, dusty looking and pale whitish gloomy finish at this point.

What is the best way to get them back into health and good shape? I do not plan to strip them in a tank, someone told me that is a no-no. Thanks in advance
