I'd like to cut ptfe (teflon) at home and make rods that are less than 2mm in diameter. [like tuflon.com]. I can't afford a water jet cutter!!! Something really small. I just want to experiment with this type of thing. Is there some type of tool that works like a compass except cuts 1/2 in thick? I am not in the know about tools and such (as you can probably tell). Is there someplace that can make a hole puncher type thing in my specified diameter? Thanks in advance.

standard 1/4" drill and drill bit to make the hole. Try a plumbers tool called a copper tubing cutter to cut PTFE.

If I understand you correctly, you want to take a 1/2 inch sheet of PTFE and punch out 2mm dia rods.

You are not going to do this on your kitchen table. I am not sure why you would want to do it. You can buy PTFE in a great variety of shapes including small dia rods. It is easy to cut these rods but if you want a really smooth finish on the cut that is more difficult to achieve with simple hand tools. Suppliers will cut it to length for you< at a price if it is small quantities.

You can certainly drill holes in PTFE blocks and with care you can machine rods, tubes etc with a lathe.
