Can you cut down a 36" bathroom vanity to fit in a 35" opening?

There is only about 1/4 of an inch of overhang on either side. Cutting it down that much will force you to remove a side panel on the carcass. Your best bet it to return it, get a 34'' vanity and add a filler strip to make up the difference.

DO NOT CUT IT!!! If you aren't familliar with the procedure, you will wind up having to buy another one. Trust me on this!!! Just get a 34'' and add a 1'' filler.

If you don't know what your doing you can screw it up. Take the advise of the carpenter exchange it, get one smaller than the opening and use filler strip. Only somebody that knows about cabinets should attempt it.....For the people that said cut 1/2" on each side I'd like to see you do it.....

I had that problem once and tore the house down, put the vanity where I wanted it and then rebuilt the house.

I re-model for a living an I wouldn't attempt it. FRANKFUSS is right. You will loose structural integrity and no matter how good you are with a saw...it won't look perfect and that IS the goal isn't it?

yes, you just need to cut the same amount from each side to make it fit the opening.

Cut 1 inch off either side. Or if you need it to be centered, cut 1/2 inch from both sides.
