We have a very old ceramic kitchen sink. It has a black stain on the bottom (from repeated use). I'd like to make it white again...Thanks!

The diy kits don't last very long and if you are using your sink all of the time I wouldn't recommend it. It sounds like you don't want to replace it because you still like the look of it.

The best thing to do is have a professional re-porcelain your sink.
Get a couple of quotes it's really worth it. My friend had her Antique bath tub done 8 years ago and it still looks new.

The sell a restore kit at HD and LOWES for about 25, you can do your entire bathtub ,.. I believe this would also work on the sink. Is it a stain or is it worn throuogh to the cast iron? You can Clean it then use bleach if its only a stain.
I hope this helps!
