I'm changing bulbs on the flood light on my front porch almost every two weeks. I don't know anything about electrical wiring. What could be causing this ?

Our bathroom switches are grouped together as a set of 3. We don't currently have a timer for the fan, but would like to get one. Ideally we would like to avoid having to call an electrician to make changes, but just swap in a new set of 3 that has a timer for the fan.

Does this exist?

I told myself to remember and I forgot. It was a digital wood mill. It connected to a PC through a USB cord. You make three demensional designs on your computer and stick a piece of wood in one end of the mill and your finished piece comes out the other. It looked brilliant. Does anyone know what it is called?

When we bought our house, we were told we only had a electric hookup for the laundry closet, which is in the kitchen. However, after moving in, I have noticed that there is copper piping with an end cap in the laundry closet that looks identical to the piping that connects the gas to the water heater and furnace elsewhere in the house (but there is no shutoff valve, only an endcap). Can I connect a gas stove to this, assuming it is a gas hookup? Or is the gas supply for dryers different than a gas supply for stoves? This could affect how we choose to remodel our kitchen in the future.

I have noisy roommates who wake me up 7-8am every morning. How do I soundproof my room? My furniture is already moved in, so installing a layer on the walls is not an option. I guess that leaves the door frame -- what's the best way to soundproof the door?

(I try wearing earplugs, but sometimes they fall out, so I'd like to soundproof as well.)

Thanks in advance!

I'm installing red oak select hardwood flooring in my kitchen, to continue the flooring from my hallway and dining room. One company recommends, for my regien, 0.4mm spacing per strip using "green" spacers, but would it be okay to just eyeball the strips before nailing them down, just like the pros? Or would it be better to just use the spacers?

Lowes and Home Depot (no offence, love them!) want just about as much for labor as they do the laminate. They don't remove the old, just glue and lay the new on top. They do come out to measure, for a small fee, and will cut to size, so is this something I can do just as good as them? Any tips if so?

I want to install pre-finished solid wood floors in my home. The kind that can be sanded and repolyurethaned again in years to come. Not the thin laminate ones. What is the best brand to buy?

I have a two story house (40 years old) and there is a room next to the kitchen that I want to tear down. I want an open space for my kitchen, dining room, and living area. We have already taken all the sheetrock off and are left with all the poles standing. How can we find out which poles are supporting the upstairs? or How can we find out if that roof has a steel pole that doesn't need support from the poles?
