I have noisy roommates who wake me up 7-8am every morning. How do I soundproof my room? My furniture is already moved in, so installing a layer on the walls is not an option. I guess that leaves the door frame -- what's the best way to soundproof the door?

(I try wearing earplugs, but sometimes they fall out, so I'd like to soundproof as well.)

Thanks in advance!

You could also try putting weather stripping around the edge of your door (it's a foamy tape that you can just stick around the edge of the door to seal it). And, you could put something (a towel or rug or there are cloth "tubes" sold specifically for this purpose, too), along the lower edge of your door to block the small crack between the floor and the door. I guess you could also upgrade your earplugs. I use them on occasion and I find that overusing them gives me ear aches. Good luck. (Moving is also an option... or why not ask your roommates to be more quiet?)

I would seriously look into another brand of earplugs that fit, there's a ton of different types out there - I have used them for almost 10 years and couldn't sleep without them, that's for sure. If you make changes to the door/structure in the room, you will probably have to fix it back the other way when you move out, so why bother... Personally I would look for another place to live if it's that bad and they are so inconsiderate.

Hi, breathing might be a problem for you in your glass sound proof room! How long can you hold your breath for? You might consider a super large fish tank for your glass room purposes, whether not not you add water and fish (for some company) is up to you. Personally, I would just go and sit in the car or lock yourself in the bathroom!

Yep. Try out the Bose Noise Cancelling headphones, they can also be used for music and you get the fun of buying something from Bose that will be good for life.
