I have an old jar/jug that was used by my mother for years to hold her sugar. The jar lid has been screwed on and cross threaded. How can I get this dang lid off?

Chandelier wiring project. Want the wire to be as invisible as possible. Each arm holds a 75W socket (110V). Ideally, I'd like AWG 24-2 rated for 120V, 100+ degrees C. But, 24-1 is fine too. I need about 35ft of wire. Tried Home Depot.. Searching the web didn't help. Thanks a lot for any pointers.

Last night I went to change my heat pumps thermostat (a honeywell manual with the mercury inside) to a Digital programmable LUX thermostat (and yes its for a heatpump).

Firstly I killed power to the unit at the breaker, swapped over the thermostat, fired the power back up and nothing, couldn't get heat/cool/or fan.

It was cold last night so I tried to put the old thermo back on, and still nothing.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Difficult transition at wall register would be easy to frame and build with wood. This would be over 20' from the furnace, which is not "really" a furnace but an air handler with a hot water coil in it. No flame associated with it, temps below 160F. Total lenghth of transition about 18". Antique register, odd size to it.

For my remodel, I need to move a gas furnace about 6 ft over. Also thinking of canning the electric water heater and going with a gas. Any idea on what the average cost of this job would be? I'd get some official quotes, but I'm still a few months out from the move and don't want to waste anyones time quite yet. Thanks so much.

Rats at my home have become immune to all those poison-filled-sweets or food items now as they can identify them!!!! They dont even eat it now.
I also tried that rat sound system whose advt. claimed that rats will go away after hearing the 'shrill' noise which can be heard only by rats!!!! They are still there.

How to remove these rats from my home? Practical remedies only plz.

There is a three inch crack in the bathtub. I'm thinking I have to replace the tub to solve the problem. The reason is that the lack of support underneath the tub is the cause of the problem. I know of no other way to get at the underside of the tub but to remove it.
