With so many cheats in the building/decorating trade, there must be a register of offending firms who rob thousands of customers by taking deposits on repair jobs but fail to complete. As a house holder, I have suffered from these scams for a long time but have not been able to find any register on the web on this issue. A UK/London shared experience would be useful.

we are moving in to a brand new house (just built) and the entire house is white. id like to paint at least the bathrooms. the bathroom vanities are white with tank streaks, kitchen has tan counters, floors are tan.... etc.

i was thinking tan walls for the master bath but it seems that would make the house too tan. now im thinking a dark red or dark brown with the other color for towels and bath mats, etc....

any suggestions?

oh and we have a window in the master bath so a dark color wouldnt neccessarily make the room too dark.

It has an flourecent strip light which really helps. But it spoils the look of my nicely decorated and fitted Kitchen. Is there a more attractive looking light fitment I could get that would give off a better brighter lighting?

I have just got some new blinds for my living room window and I don't like them! I am looking for some suggestions on how to make them look half ok.

My living room has a large window which has an arch shape at the top. I was persuaded to get blinds and to put them 3/4 of the way up as it would look, "fashionable" and "cool!" Having seen them up they don't look either! It looks a bit silly, odd and unfinished. The only things I can think of are,
1) Burn them and get curtains - Not too keen on this as that is just added expense!
2) Keep them as they are - Certainly cheaper than 1 but not great
3) Move the blinds up as far as they will go. This would still leave a gap of between 2-4 inches between the blind and the highest point of the window.

Therefore I guess I have got two questions. Firstly does anyone have a 4th idea and secondly, if I went with 3 or 2 does anyone have an arty idea on what to do with the gap. Should I just leave it or try and fill the gap with something.
