I have a shelf above the kitchen countertop and it got wet because it's near the sink. the Poly has worn off after 7 years. What are the correct steps in order to sand it, to finishing it properly. I sanded it down with an orbital sander and restained it and it looks like crap, it's tacky and spotty. Please give me the correct steps from A to Z on how to properly do this right. Please be specific on when I sand,etc.. I want it to be Classic Oak Finish with some kind of poly on it to make it smooth. Thanks

Has anyone made some kind of bracket to mount a waterbed headboard to a regular bed frame? We are getting rid of the waterbed to go to a regular mattress, but like the headboard and would like to keep using it. But I need to find or make a bracket to mount the headboard to the standard frame. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

Is there a way we can find blueprints or a layout for the floorplan already made with out having to have an interior decorator or basement specialist come in and do it for us to help us best utilize the space?

Not too expensive, loft is just an empty storage area.
Will a strip light with a pull cord do?

I have a squeaky floorboard right in the middle of my bathroom floor.
My bathroom has a fitted carpet + underlay.
Is there a way to stop it squeaking with or without lifting the carpet.

My bedroom is horrible. I have dusty dark blue carpet, white walls (except for one grey/white wood grain paneling wall) and this horrible air condintioner box that sticks out about a foot and is about a foot and a half wide. It's brown and has this gaudy cord that hangs down and plugs into the wall. Someone suggested a beach theme given the colors that I already have. It's an apartment so I can't paint. Does anyone have any good beach theme ideas that are inexpensive? I don't want it to be too tacky...i'm going for more of a relaxing getaway type thing.

I just don't have time to be creative anymore. I want to decorate my bedroom, so that it actually feels like a bedroom and not just a room where I sleep. I have a very stressfull job, so I would like for it to be a nice relaxing room to get away in. It's a pretty blank slate so far. My carpet is a dusty dark blue, my walls are mostly white, one horrible side is grey and white wood grain paneling, though:) oh yeah. So, any ideas would be great....and details, color schemes, storage, organization ideas, etc....pictures/links would be very helpful. Oh, two other things. There is only one window, it's pretty tall...floor to ceiling, normal height ceilngs though. And here's the best part-I have an airconditioner, that's like...a window one..but it's jsut sticking out of my wall. it's lovely. I would love to safely cover this up somehow. Has anyone else ever dealt with one of these before? It's brown and about the size of a normal window air conditioner.
