I just don't have time to be creative anymore. I want to decorate my bedroom, so that it actually feels like a bedroom and not just a room where I sleep. I have a very stressfull job, so I would like for it to be a nice relaxing room to get away in. It's a pretty blank slate so far. My carpet is a dusty dark blue, my walls are mostly white, one horrible side is grey and white wood grain paneling, though:) oh yeah. So, any ideas would be great....and details, color schemes, storage, organization ideas, etc....pictures/links would be very helpful. Oh, two other things. There is only one window, it's pretty tall...floor to ceiling, normal height ceilngs though. And here's the best part-I have an airconditioner, that's like...a window one..but it's jsut sticking out of my wall. it's lovely. I would love to safely cover this up somehow. Has anyone else ever dealt with one of these before? It's brown and about the size of a normal window air conditioner.

If you're looking for peace and relaxing I suggest (given the current colors) to go with something beach-themed. Get pictures of the ocean - things that calm and inspire you. You can take glass vases and fill them with inexpensive craft sand and some sea shells. I also browse the clearance racks at Bed, Bath and Beyond & Linens and Things for cheap ways to update my decor.

HGTV has a lot of great "design on a dime" tips - I've found a lot of inspiration there. They did this thing with a screen and wood frame to decorate over a AC unit.... but it was a wall one.

Try pale green and brown to go with the blue.

Use solids and try using velcro on edges of fabric to cover the ac unit when not in use.

Perhaps Floor to Ceiling white curtain panels would add drama and peace.

Here is some elegant bedding that you can springboard off of.

Enjoy.

The word "master" is an antiquated term that suggests control, domination, and inequality, and in today's cooperative partner and/or single parent household, the label "master suite" has become obsolete. In that light, master bedrooms would more properly be called "main bedrooms" in today’s society.

Far removed from the hubbub of family rooms and busy kitchens, the bedroom is the place where your day begins and ends. Surprisingly, however, main bedroom redecorating frequently ranks near the bottom of most people's home renovation lists. But if you want an immediate uplift of your emotional state, there are few projects that will do that more effectively than remodeling your main bedroom.

Since you like the Betty Boop theme, I would paint the walls white and do a fun border on the wall in either a red/black polka dot or a design that you would like. Garage sales are a good place to find cheap accessories to decorate in that theme. Hope it helps.

Gathering samples is a great way to begin. If you are starting with a color, your samples might include fabric, paint chips, wallpaper, carpet, wood, stone, and tile.
