No it is not as easy as on TV. You can use some of the low fume paint stippers available and wrapping plastic wrap around the areas seems to help. It is a really dirty labour intensive job. Please note strippers will burn lino and ruin it. Strippers are also really expensive to use if you are removing several layers of paint.

No, the job takes longer. Some people are allergic to the smell of the finishing products, so it is good to check the demos in the store before you buy and to work in the well ventilated area, one piece of furniture at a time. Apparently, many people do the job themselves and they succeed; you will not know till you try, and if you do not like the results, you can try again, and again till you give up or succeed. Good luck.

No, it is serious hard labour. I do it in my spare time, as I find deals at auctions, I fix them up. But they make it look easy on tv!

I have found that nothing is as easy as it is protrayed on tv. Cause if everything is as easy as it appears on tv, we would all be doing everything that we see on tv...

NO!

Don't strip paint or stain in the direct sun.

It's just easier to go get it dipped.
