Last night my mom spilled a pretty good amount of bright red nail polish on her sage color carpeting. I just had to share with everyone how to get the stain out...you need to blot any excess nail polish, then grab wd-40....spray all of the stain. this will spread the stain...using a washcloth and some elbow grease it will slowly disappear. i then used some baby powder to get the excess oil out of the carpet, vaccumed...then treated it with carpet cleaner-like resolve. i had one place that stilled showed slightly and i rubbed it with some goo gone-and it is gone! im not going to lie and say it only took me a few minutes it took some time rubbing the stain out then vaccuming and all this. not really a question but just had to share! I'm a nail tech and i think the reason why wd-40 worked so well is because nail polish doesn't like oil-it can't stick to oil-oh and the color of the carpet didn't fade or anything!

I used nail glue to glue down a hard, thick plastic sticker that had lost its tackiness. Now it's all over the outside plastic part of the sticker. Is there any way to get it off? I've tried scraping it with my fingernails and nail polish remover.

Everyone has different circumstances... so feel free to answer and include basics, if you like...
We here have two adults, and two meals a day.
But, half of the time my BF is away on business, so I eat leftovers and there's no extra mess...
So, it's used, but not the same way a family of five with kids would do...
Just wondering what others do.

I know this sounds like a really dumb question but I rent a house with a self cleaning oven in the litchen. The landlord informed us that the previous tenant used an oven cleaner for regular ovens and it did something to the inside surface of the oven ( left a stain or blemish )The landlord says he does not know if it is now safe to use the self cleaning feature now but only wants us to use a cleaner safe for self cleaning ovens. All the oven cleaning sprays I can find say not to use on self cleaning ovens.
Does such a product exist and if not...is it safe to use the self cleaning feature now?

I left a cast iron skillet in the sink overnight, now there is a small circular rust stain. Is there any thing that is not chemical/cleaner that I can use? Some kind of home cleaning tip?

I have these really expensive plastic ware containers that my brother left with some nasty food in it for quite awhile. I have thrown the food out but the containers still stink of it. Is there anyway to remove the odor without getting rid of the container?

I know a few ppl who pride themselves on living w/o a dishwasher. Supposedly, it saves water/energy.

Let's say I take off all the extra-special heat settings, and just let my dishwasher run the normal cycle, but full of dishes.
Does that really take up more water than by hand? I say, running your faucet for 15-20 minutes straight would take up more water than the machine.

Are there any studies that conclusively show, one way or the other? Why is this so often repeated? How can dishwashers be so bad when they make me so happy?
