It's the straw that goes with a water bottle and it wasn't air dried properly so it has a little bit of black stuff growing on the inside walls of the straw.

i tink the best way would be to fill a bowl with water n put some liquid soap in it..the dish washing one...mix it a lil with ur hand..then dip the straw in it for a few times then just simply rinse it under running water...making sure that the water is going inside the straw as well

I would think that black stuff is mildew. I would rather see you buy a new straw, that clean it.
But if you really want to take a Q Tip and put some bleach and that should to it, after removing the black stuff, hold your finger on one side of the straw, and pour hot water with a drop of dish detergent and swish back & forth, and rinse with the hottest water you have.
You can also try Vinegar.

Buy a pack of "pipe cleaners" in the craft department (probably cheaper than a specialty cleaner) then I would use a bleach water mixture and the pipe cleaner to remove the black stuff. The bleach will kill whatever it is that is growing in there. Then before you use it, let it dry and use a different pipe cleaner and some hot soapy water to wash the straw and rinse it very well. Good Luck!!

This might sound funky, but it'll work. Go to the pet dept. at wal mart & pick up a filter cleaning brush. It looks like a baby bottle brush on a longer wire handle, but much thinner. It'll fit in the straw & is stiff enough to get the crud out. Should only cost a couple bucks. It's used to clean fish tank filters. They come in sev. sizes, get the small one.

Soak it in soapy water with a spoonful of vinegar and use a pipe cleaner to clean out any mold that the soap didn't get.

My straw was too long for a Qtip so I used a wooden skewer. I put in the Qtip and slid it back and forth using the skewer to push it. It really worked!!

Do what you can but be sure to use bleach as 1 of the last steps.
