I have these really expensive plastic ware containers that my brother left with some nasty food in it for quite awhile. I have thrown the food out but the containers still stink of it. Is there anyway to remove the odor without getting rid of the container?

As the other poster said, newspaper is good. However if it's a food container I would try a couple of tablespoon of baking soda and pour hot water in on that. Let it soak over night. Both vinegar and baking soda are good for removing food odors. You could try either one, but not at the same time as you'll get lots of foam :-)

Let it soak with water and baking soda for about an hour. Dry it in full sunlight as the uv will take out the smell from pvc and other plastics. This works well on plastic garbage containers and cat litter boxes too.

Crumpled up newspapers left inside the sealed containers is suppose to absorb the odors.
Just the black and white pages, no color.
I tried it and left the containers sealed for 48 hours. Worked pretty good.

Leave to soak with a mixture of brown vinegar and water. You may like to add some bi-carbonate of soda to the mixture and leave overnight, might have to be repeated.
