Every vacuum cleaner I have ever had starts smelling burned after 1 min.
of use. They barely pick up anything and I have to go over that spot 10 times.
In addition I have to clean the rollers EVERY time before vacuuming. What am
I doing wrong?

This happens with all my vacum cleaners, new or used.

i recently purchased two pieces of equipment(sewing machines) that came from a shop that the operators smoked VERY heavly.this has caused the machines to be covered with nicotine.i wish to clean them up but i can't use soap & water in any great amount due to it getting into the internal workings & causing problems. So, anyone out there know how to remove this STUFF?

If there is something already in the bowl such as a plastic beaker or babys bottle it always finds its way directly under the tap therefore soaking you in the process!
Its gotta be a sciency type reason but I dont know why!
Come on you clever peeps.

I have two pot holders that have magnets built in so you can hang them on the fridge or any other appliance. They are filthy but I don't know if it is safe to put magnets into my washer and dryer. Do you know if this is safe? If not why?

My friend's dog is staying with me and is in heat. She is leaving my lovely little blood stains everywhere. I try to clean them as soon as I see them, but there are some spots on my carpet and couch that have dried. What is the best way to get rid of them? Thanks!

I have some old dresses - made by my mother - that I'd like to store for my future daughters if I have them. The dresses are quite old and I need to preserve them. Where can I buy some bags to store them in? Are they airtight?

The factory rep for my new dishwasher said the reason the dishes aren't getting clean is because the dishwasher powder I am using is "expired". He said that to test dishwasher powder, pour a small amount in your hand and drip cold water on it. If the powder doesn't get warm in your hand, he says, then it has expired - meaning it won't work as a detergent in the machine.

He also said that dishwasher powders have an "expiration date" stamped on the box, but it is coded by the manufacturer so you can't tell how old the box is when you buy it.

I can imagine solutions to this (liquid soap, higher water temp, pre-rinsing, etc.), but I am amazed about the expiration thing. Ever heard of this?

I heard we could keep mice away for the winter if we used moth balls. We spread a whole box under the trailer. Now the smell is in everything.
