My friend's dog is staying with me and is in heat. She is leaving my lovely little blood stains everywhere. I try to clean them as soon as I see them, but there are some spots on my carpet and couch that have dried. What is the best way to get rid of them? Thanks!

Normally you would add salt , but I have found doing the same as you would do for red wine being spilled , pour a little white wine on top leave for a few min´s then blot with kitchen roll . this always works, then with your own hair shampoo wash & rinse where the stain has been removed . Then lay a towel on top add a heavy object on top as this will help dry out any reaming water from the underside of the carpet . you might have to sponge this area again as most sure the water stain always comes to the surface. remember whilst removing the stain always work inwards as not to spread the stain further

I was always told to use cold water with a little salt added into which I would put any clothes with bloodstains on. This did the job. So try cold water unless someone has a better idea. Maybe oxy action will do it but then there will be a cleaner part to your carpet asnd it mayu take out the colour too. Good luck

Blood is tricky to get off. Hot water will set the stains. Salt tends to draw it out of the fibres. I've had success with wetting the stain with cold water, then sprinkling liberally with salt and leaving it for ten to fifteen minutes, blotting it out with a dry clean cloth and repeating the whole process as necessary. It takes time and patience.

Animal blood is not like human blood it does not stain it does not contain the protein ours does. A solution of vinegar and warm water will do the trick with out fading colors or soaping up things.

HI, you can rinse thoroughly with water and mop the mess out with a dry towel, dont't rub, just blot. Alternatively get a carpet cleaner in to clean it up, they will (if they are any good) bring a rust remover with them (Which is also used for blood removal). The key is get it up as quickly as possible!

Has your friend not heard of menstrual pampers for pets?

Please get some and use them. I can't believe your friend is this irresponsible.

Or, ask your friend to have her dog spayed, there are enough dogs in the world already and a dog in heat will attract every male dog in the neighborhood.

Good luck with your friend, she sounds like she needs some advice about dogs.

My Mom is a retired Nurse and use to get Blood on her Clothes alot. She always applied Peroxide to it and the blood would boil up and then she would wash it. Since its dried you may need to repeat this a couple of times, but it will work..

peroxide gets out blood..but if its on something other than clothes..i would try a test spot first to make sure it doesn't take the color out. I'm a nurse and have gotten blood out of my clothes countless times with peroxide..first saturate the area well with cold water..then pour full strength peroxide on area and let it foam up..the pour a few more times..rinse well with water..good luck.
