If there is something already in the bowl such as a plastic beaker or babys bottle it always finds its way directly under the tap therefore soaking you in the process!
Its gotta be a sciency type reason but I dont know why!
Come on you clever peeps.

I have absolutely no idea why you leave stuff in the bowl. But I must admit I find the thought of you getting soaked hilarious.

Cheers

lol - i know exactly what u mean ! that happens to me every time i wash the dishes ! another thing that annoys me is when i'm running a bath for my 4 year old son - he always throws in his bath toys whilst the water is running, and u can guarantee that i'll get splashed as the water rebounds off a rubber duck that's got under the flow of tap water ! i guess that's part of the joy of being a mother to a baby / young child. u can bet your life that u'll end up covered in water / food / pee / milk during some part of the day !

Well, the water rushing into the sink is kinda like a waterfall. And it pulls it down towards the bottom of the sink where the water is rushing to.

Because the water just loves bouncing off of bottles, glasses, bowls or whatever and splashing on us~it likes to hear us shriek!!! LOL

its because when the water comes out of the faucet, it puches down on the water already in the sink, so when the water is circulating around, the contents of the sink get moved towrds the area. Thus, it sprays all over you.

i'm not a sciency boffin, but yeah your'e right, it's irritating isn't it? i suppose it's something to do with the pressure of water from the tap pushing the item into a certain position, but why - i'll leave that to the boffins too!!!

Some call it Sods Law, the thing most likely to be inconvenient to you at any given moment has a high probabilty of actually happening. I prefer to call it B*stards Law becuase that is my word of choice when it happens!

The answer lies in fluid dynamics, the flow of fluids. As they churn they expend some of their energy moving things around. Take a course in fluids and you will understand that is basically energized water trying to get rid of energy.

Its just "sods law" (theres another question!...where does the phrase 'sods law' originate? ha).....just like every time you drop your toast on the floor it nearly always lands with the spreaded side down! Or when you choose the shortest queue in the supermarket or on the motorway.....the other queues/lanes all end up moving faster than the one you joined! grrrrr I hate sods law!! whoever invented it needs locking up!! LOL
