My boyfriend and I were interested in making a lifesize manger to put in our front yard. Does anybody have any tips or ideas to help make this process a little easier?

We had our carpets removed a while ago and installed laminate flooring instead.

As a result, the house is not as warm as it used to be.
Will it help if I add R13 insulation in the basement ceiling ? Will it keep the living room floor (which is just above the basement) warmer ?

On the same manner, will adding another layer of insulation to the attic help in the winter and summer as well ?

As for the mositure barrier paper, if I understand correctly, it should be facing up both cases, right ?

So me and my hubby are looking for a house. It has been a LONG process. Trying to find something we both like. Today we found a house in a good part of town close to downtown and everything. The house is on a cul-de-sac, but one that has houses really close to one another. The yard is fenced already and it has a nice sized front yard but the back yard is not huge but not small. So my ? is how big of a problem is this?? I can stand it. That is what privacy fences are for. But when and if we want to resale it in the future. Would we for some reason not be able to resale it??

Hi,

We are about to buy our xmas tree and i would love a 6 ft artificial or real tree...i heard artificial are safer?

But my mum wants a 3 ft real potted tree to put on a cherry wood table in the lounge....we have the space for a 6ft but mum won't budge...you can get them for about the same size and artificial saves a tree... we had a potted one last year but it died by febuary and it looked kinda bad......lol

What should we go for? an artificial 6ft or a real 3ft in a pot?

Thanks...

A friend gave me a gift basket of soaps, candles and other stuff. It has a small (one ounce) bottle of transparent oil with herbs in it. Smells really good. I just don't know what it is for!
Thanks for your answers.

The walls are painted Benjamin Moore's Filtered Sunlight which you can view here... http://www.materials-world.com/paint-colors/benjamin_moore/Benjamin-Moore-Color-31.htm ... I am not very fond of the color (I wish I would have chosen more of a creamy color) but it will have to do for now. I tend to like the color schemes that Pottery Barn uses in the rooms shown in their catalog. Any ideas for nice throw pillows or anything that will offset the blah tone of the dark brown and yellow?

last night, the wash machine almost overflowed due to the contant flow of water. it would not stop even after shutting the machine off, ultimately I had to shut the water off. I am pretty mechanically inclinded and don't mind taking it apart could it be timer or is the hot water inlet valve stuck open with something, it is fairly new install I am thinking a piece of (soder)or something has been stuck into the inlet valve, so before I rip my machine apartany sugestions would be nice.

I would like to replace floor tiles in my bathroom. It looks like it only has plywood, mortar, and tiles (from botton to top). Can I just follow this setting to replace it or I'd better have backer board in between.

I live in an area that is experiencing a drought right now. My electric well pump is making more noise now than it used to. I think I might have to replace the pump and motor sooner or later. Is that a job I can do on my own?

More details: I think the pump is about 12 years old. It's a Sta-Rite brand pump... one horsepower pump (Model MSE 6)
The pump sits upright, right on the wellhead and the only pipe I can see above ground is a PVC pipe of about 2 1/4" outside diameter.

Can I tackle this on my own, or do I need to call a well guy?

Thanks in advance.

I want to replace the doors for my bedrooms and bathrooms. I noticed that most places sell the doors pre-hung with the jambs and they're pretty expensive. Do they not sell the doors just by themselves?

I know I would have to measure and cut the hinge holes, but that's easy. I just don't want to have to buy the whole pre-hung door & jamb.
