So me and my hubby are looking for a house. It has been a LONG process. Trying to find something we both like. Today we found a house in a good part of town close to downtown and everything. The house is on a cul-de-sac, but one that has houses really close to one another. The yard is fenced already and it has a nice sized front yard but the back yard is not huge but not small. So my ? is how big of a problem is this?? I can stand it. That is what privacy fences are for. But when and if we want to resale it in the future. Would we for some reason not be able to resale it??

It can be a problem if you have neighbors who are difficult to get along with. In CA, houses are so close together you can reach out the window of your home and touch your neighbor's house. Houses with larger yards and distance between homes greater have higher sales prices out here because we are so tight on land. Therefore, those houses are in much higher demand. One of the main reasons I built this home is that it butts up to a nature conservancy upon which no one can build and I will never have a "back yard" neighbor.

I grew up in two different houses on cul-de-sacs. Both were a corner lots so the front and side yard were large in comparison with the back. My parents bought them, my parents sold them.

When it comes time to sell the house yard size won't be a big deal except to those who want a big yard. Just like not having an eat in kitchen won't be a big deal except for those who want an eat in kitchen.

The housing market has gone crazy lately. Builders just want to get as many homes in as little space as possible to make the most cash. I figure, if I had to pay more to get a yard and some privacy, I would. I don't know anyone that likes looking into their neighbor's windows.

My wife and I purchased 3 acres to build our dream log cabin! We don't like houses on top of each other!

But if is what you want go for it. With the market slowing on home sales maybe you can offer less and get in at a good price? ALSO the interest rates are great right now!

I won't live in a home unless it is far from anyone else. That's why I have acreage in a rural area. many people don't mind though. The suburbs are built very dense and packed together, and it seems many people don't mind this. If people didn't buy them, builders wouldn't build them that way.
