Hi,

We are about to buy our xmas tree and i would love a 6 ft artificial or real tree...i heard artificial are safer?

But my mum wants a 3 ft real potted tree to put on a cherry wood table in the lounge....we have the space for a 6ft but mum won't budge...you can get them for about the same size and artificial saves a tree... we had a potted one last year but it died by febuary and it looked kinda bad......lol

What should we go for? an artificial 6ft or a real 3ft in a pot?

Thanks...

The "in" thing now is to think green.

I vote with your mother, get a real potted tree.

If you want a potted tree, keep it well-watered and make sure the room it's in is kept cool (ideal for a hallway, but not a lounge). Otherwise go for an artificial tree. Or both - say a very small real tree that you can plant in the garden after Christmas, and an artificial one as a centrepiece.

I love real Christmas trees. No matter how much easier and less time consuming artificial trees are, nothing can replace the experience of going to pick out and buy a Christmas tree, the smells, everything. I definitely vote to get a giant 6 foot and very real tree.

I did a real tree one year. But I had already dug the hole, and put the dirt in the garage so it wouldn't freeze. After Christmas our family planted in the yard and trimmed it with bird food. Real evergreen trees don't live long indoors.

artificial trees are necessarily safer. The fake tree that we had actually came with a lead paint disclosure on a scrap piece of paper.
