Ok, try to visualize this..

I am going to hang some garland around a room in the space where the wall meets the ceiling. (Normally where Crown Molding is.) In my apartment, I normally use a staple gun and it has worked very well, then I just touched up paint after I pulled it down. However, I need a method for hanging this garland that won't leave marks or damage the walls or the paint.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could use? (BTW, there is no crown molding where I will be hanging this garland.)

We are renovating our living room and have opened up the original inglenook fireplace. We've fitted a large canopy and register plate and the chimney itself is huge. However, smoke is entering the room.
At the same time as restoring the fireplace, we removed the ceiling and plan to expose the beams. However, we thought we could leave this job until the spring. But when we lit the fire for the 1st time last week, the room slowly filled with smoke. It might sound like a stupid question, but will replacing the ceiling improve the situation? Or are we going to have to forfeit the open fire and get a log burner? Hope someone can help? Cheers, Steve

My sump pump was running nonstop, so I unplugged it and made sure the float wasn't stuck or anything, and now instead of sucking water it seems to be shooting it out. My well pit is quickly getting flooded. Do I need a new sump pump now or is it an easy fix. It is shooting it out down where it is supposed to be sucking in.

Hi, my wife and I are doing some house hunting and we think we want to buy a house with a pool. I have no idea how much a pool will cost to upkeep on a monthly basis - power, chemicals, etc...

I would love to know what we could expect (ball park estimates as costs could vary from state to state). I'd also like to know what different costs we will have for the pool.

Thanks!

I have an aloe vera plant which is good for minor scrapes and abrasions.

How would I cook it, or would it be best to just suck out the pulp and juice?

If you have not tried it, why not?

I don't know what kind of paint it is, but it's translucent. It's on a glass bowl that has roses embossed in it, so there a lot of nooks and crannies. It was probably applied at the glass factory and they wanted to to make it look like old carnival glass. I've tried ethyl acetate, toluene and acetone. Acetone seemed to work the best, but there's a few places that are stubborn, especially in the design.

In our home we are renting we have an open fireplace with no blowers, (that I can find anyways) All we have is 4 vents around the opening. It doesn't seem to be producing much heat which doesn't surprise me since there is no way to circulate the heat. I was thinking of putting a fan in front of the fireplace to help blow the heat around the room. Does anyone have any suggestions or am I just wasting my time.

This will be my first winter with gas central heating. I have been given advice that it is cheaper to leave it on continuously on a comfortable 20 degrees C (when in the house) rather than having it come on for three hours at 23 degrees C in the morning from cold, then cool back down, then on for four hours in the evening, again from cold. Is this true? It is a two bedroom open plan detached house.

I am getting ready to landscape my backyard, and at the Nursery they have palms that are $11.00 dollars but they are smaller sizes... Then they have the bigger ones for more money. What I was wondering how fast do these palms grow in Florida? I wouldn't mind buying a bunch of the small ones if it takes a year to catch up to the $35.00 dollar ones that are bigger? Is it a foot a year or something?

I want to know how to make my room more presentable to myself and friends that may come into my bedrooom.

I stay in a room with stacks of old dusty suitcases on the walled-in wardrobe. I cant take these boxes out cos they belong to family that are outside the country. I never have friends come over cos i dont like the way the room looks.

I want ideas as to how i can cover up these stacks and the old ugly suitcases and maybe even the wardrobe all in such a way that the room looks nice and trendy. I really want to be comfortable with where i stay, especially for myself.

I will also like to cover-up the end of the room where i've packed up some stuff to create more room for myself, so that the rest of the room looks nice.

Thanks!!
