My sump pump was running nonstop, so I unplugged it and made sure the float wasn't stuck or anything, and now instead of sucking water it seems to be shooting it out. My well pit is quickly getting flooded. Do I need a new sump pump now or is it an easy fix. It is shooting it out down where it is supposed to be sucking in.

You've probably disconnected it from the discharge hose. Reattach the hose and you should be OK. If the hose is attached try turning the plug 180 degrees as the motor may be spinning in the wrong direction because of the positive negative connections. But this is highly unlikely.

This recently happen to me. I knew the pump wasn't bad, it was fairly new.
I disconnected the pump and pulled it out, it's not that hard to do. Believe this or not, a sock of my daughters, somehow went through the washing machine pump and through the line into the sump pump where it got stuck in the blades.
If it is something like this, put a piece of aluminum wire mesh over the pump end and wire it down, it might help.

Is your sump pump under warranty? If so, call the manufacturer on the box or pamphlet that came with the pump.

Well yes you could try cleaning the float and it's connection to the pump. If the ball has a leak and water is inside it should be replaced. It's an inexpensive fix either way.

It definitely sounds like you need a new one, which will be cheaper in the long run than having the one repaired.

it sounds like the water is siphoning in the exhaust. try unpluging it again for a minute or so, then plugging it in again.
