Generally, how much space would a rough carpenter leave in between the rough 2 x 4 door opening and the prehung door? I would imagine only an inch or so, but I'm not sure. Thanks.

I've seen him and heard him chirping away! My dryer is on the 2nd floor of the house, so I can't access the vent from the outside. It's getting cold and I need to use the dryer, but I don't want to turn it on and blast him out - especially if there's a nest in there.

I know it sounds silly, but I don't know what to do! I don't want to hurt the poor bird. Please offer some suggestions!!

i believe that it is easier to just buy a house but my family says we should build. i think it would cost alot more including the apartment for a year, supplies, and contractor and his year. the house is expected to take a FULL year.

I need to replace a toilet. At Home Depot, there were about 20 different choices.

1) is there any difference in the "footprints" where the new toilet will fit over the old floor space, which of course is cut out of the floor?

2) Are there real differences in flushing quality? The toilets range from $79.00 to over $400.00. I expect you get what you pay for, but if there are no flushing differences, I would prefer the cheaper unit.

Any advice?????

Is it safe to have an oil filled electric radiator (some call them flat panel electric heaters) situated in the bathroom if I bring the lead to a socket or fused spur outside the bathroom?

Also would it be safe to put things like damp towels/clothes on the radiator or should they not be covered?

Thanks.

I just moved and where I moved to has this odd tree in the front yard. It has rows of long thin leaves, fuzzy branches that break off easily in fall, and produces red cone-shaped clusters that point upward. It also reproduces by tubing roots I believe.
