I've seen him and heard him chirping away! My dryer is on the 2nd floor of the house, so I can't access the vent from the outside. It's getting cold and I need to use the dryer, but I don't want to turn it on and blast him out - especially if there's a nest in there.

I know it sounds silly, but I don't know what to do! I don't want to hurt the poor bird. Please offer some suggestions!!

(Sorry, I should clarify...getting up on a ladder up to the 2nd floor window is not an option).

I would build a bird house and relocate the nest. It will be more troublesome if there are eggs and then chicks involved.

Well, you can't possible try to remove it by hanging from the roof. I will stil go with the ladder. You can get a ladder extension which looks like a shorten reverse U, or something like this, Π.

The crossbar part is attached to the ladder, which allows the ladder to lean on any surface without damaging it. The cross bar can also be very wide so the ladder will have great support while providing minimal pressure on the surface.

The carpenter that installed my winter proof window use the same thing against newly installed casement windows and the windows did not feel a thing, and did not even budge a bit when they were pressed on by the extension. Let me know if you were able to get one.

The foil kind that is used for heating ducts will work very well. It's expensive as tape goes but you'll probably use some when you replace the hose anyway. The duct tape which has the fibres in it, well, I don't know, it might depend how far from the dryer it is because the heat might soften the adhesive. It shouldn't catch fire or anything but may not last well.

we had a bird make its nest lay eggs and ccidently leave one baby behind it was in our outside vent and it was in the second story but we tried a lot of things we ended up borrowing a ladder and getting the poor thing out he was fine just lost and couldnt quite fly his way out yet. so my advice save yourself some trouble and get a ladder dig it out and secure the vent. make sure the is no eggs if there is babies take them to a shelter.
