I live in Charleston, SC, and it is hot and humid here all the damn time. My patio gets direct sun for most of the day, but it is still always damp. The flies and mosquitoes love it. I don't want to buy a nasty bugzapping lamp, burn a bunch of citronella candles, or spray pesticides which may make my dogs sick. Are there natural ways (maybe certain plants or types of mulch or ground cover) which will keep these bugs away from the patio?

When we first got married I had the energy and know how to just dive in and clean up the garage. Now as years go by I thought I had just given up and thrown in the towel but no, for some strange reason I want to clean the garage. Where in the world should I start??? Should I do little jobs everyday or dig in and try and get it done in a weekend. Its realllllly bad. I have to throw things out behind his back or I get yelled at...not yelled at but questioned.."where is it, what'd you do with it, I needed that really bad" any advice would be appreciated...I am over whelmed!

I will be buying a new undermount sink and need to buy a new faucet. I will be buying a faucet that has one handle for hot and cold versus the 2 handle because of the sink we're getting. My question is should I get a faucet with the spayer attached?
If I do this then when my new granite gets installed I will only need them to drill one hole. I'm really kind of nervous about the srayer being attached because I wonder if it will not go back in the faucet properly after being used a gazillion times. So what do you think - spayer attached? Or separate sprayer which then they would have to drill another hole but not a big deal to me. What do you think? Have you had good luck with sprayer attached to faucet? Thanks!!

Both my window and my mom's window both have a small hive forming and we want to know an easy way of getting rid of it and the bees. The hive itself isn't very big, but we fear they might try to get in the house.

It was suggested to me that we try soapy water, is that a good idea?

I moved into a rental house in Houston, TX at the beginning of this year and my last electric bill was almost $800. I fully expect my September/October bills to go over $1000. I may be living here for an additional year so I am looking to do something to increase the energy efficiency of the house. Since I'm renting it doesn't make financial sense to get a more efficient air conditioner, insulation, radiant barrier, or better windows. Just to give you some details on the house: It's two stories, around 3400 sq ft., has two air conditioners (one for the upstairs and one for the downstairs). My wife is pregnant so unless I want to get stabbed in the throat with a screwdriver turning the air up is not an option. Any ideas on some things I can do to lower my electric bill that will be cost effective considering the amount of time that I am going to be living here?

I have a 9 yr old Rheem 3 1/2 ton Central Air. The "M" coil is leaking and needs to be replaced. Can I put in a new coil with a R-407 orifice and convert it over, while still using the same compressor?

I would prefer a licensed HVAC tech answer, who has done it before. Thanks

The previous owners of my home had gas logs installed in the wood burning fireplace. I don't want gas logs. It's not that I want to convert it back to wood buring right now either, I just don't want anything in there. The gas company has already removed the gas tank so there is no gas at all coming into my home. But there are "logs" sitting in the fireplace. Can I just unscrew a line and pick them up and out of the fireplace? (sounds too easy!) But then will there be a pipe/line dangling in the fireplace? I am not insterested in burning anything in the fireplace right now, I just want it empty. Thanks!

My neighbor has a craftsman lawn mower with power driven front tires, 7.5 HP motor (If I remember correctly) aprox 3 years old
If it is cold starts great and runs great, but if you stop and try to restart it, then you can not get it to start.
Any Advise?

Hello garnders...
I recently acquired a Floribunda Rose and have recently repotted it using the soil recommended by the nursery.
It is watered thoroughly in the mornings and receives full sunlight. My concern is that the leaves are turning a pale green. Is this a sign of poor health, and if so, how can I help this beautiful Rose?
