I have a central air conditioning system. We left it on last night with the windows open (by mistake) and then switched it off after 3 hours. The A/C now doesn't work anymore. Could leaving the window open (it was relatively cool outside) have conked the compressor, or any other part of the unit.

My driveway is just dirt so every time it rains it gets really muddy and we end up with holes. I would like to put rocks to make a hard surface. I've looked at Lowes and Walmart and only found small bags (I would need too many). Is there some other place I can try?

They are really tall, and the pointing on them (mortar stuff) seems to be aging... and the house is like 50 years old as well.

A friend told me they might be dangerous - could come down on top of someone.

A few of the houses on the opposite street (I can see them from loft/attic extension room) have had their chimneys lowered at some point - but what kind of tradesman would I be needing to do such a job?

They are tall and look heavy, and I guess there would have to be care taken as the bricks will drop on to the driveway below (and hopefully not down on next-door's extension).

Also I'd like to just get up there by a rope and take a sledgehammer to them to save money, but I guess that might be unsafe and dangerous.

We got it before summer, and it's been great. The thing is, it really holds in the heat. So now, I get too hot sleeping on it. Anyone know how to lower the heat?

Was thinking solder or even j.b. weld
will the pipe get hot enough to melt the solder with water in it?

I have a GFI outlet that blew and the fuse in the main breaker is not popped. The little red light is not on showing it is blown, but nothing will work plugged in. The reset button won't push in and stay. Any ideas with whats wrong with it.

I am 13 almost 14 and I am redecorating my bedroom. I know im getting carpet, most likely white. I need a new bed, tv wall mount and decorations. The most important thing is the paint. I have a very small room so for the bed I either want a futon or my mom thinks I should get a loft bed, to give me more room.

For the paint color I don't just want one color. I want designs, stripes, polka dots things like that. I'm not sure what colors look best together.

My favorite colors are Pink, purple, blue, and fun colors. I would rather not have my room blue, thats what it is now.

Things I like:
hollister
summer
coach

I'm girly so I want something fun.

PLEASE HELP ME!
I want my room to be super nice!

I live in an apartment in Miami, and have a new baby.. I'm concerned with the idea of losing power (particularly A/C) during Hurricane Season.. Is there a portable generator that is small and quiet enough to put on my balcony? Is is safe to use one on a balcony?

I live in a converted basement apartment. Each year during the months of Aug thru Nov, the back yard crickets have a free for all at my place. A male will get behind a large appliance and begin chirping which attracts females.

Pestisides are out of the question. If anyone knows of a natural repellant, I'd be very grateful.

My glads lean way over to the ground. I assume this is because the flower itself makes them heavy, but is there anything I can do to prevent this? Should I be planting them deeper in the ground?
