We got it before summer, and it's been great. The thing is, it really holds in the heat. So now, I get too hot sleeping on it. Anyone know how to lower the heat?

Oh, hey, "who-cares"
Yea, we had the same set up brfore we got the mattress. The full foam mattress makes a BIG difference, I'm tellin' you!

I know what you mean. Ours was the same way.
What we did was to cover it with a thick mattress pad
as it seems that much of the heat is picked up from the body. Having a space, or insulator between the body and the mattress prevents the heat from holding in the mattress. We have a nice down one that works fine for us.

I recently bought a new mattress myself and was interested in a memory foam type, but after speaking to the salesman at our local and reputable mattress store, he suggested not getting one if you're sensitive to heat , because the memory foam retains it and is not very "breathable". The standard spring type mattress using memory foam as a top padding and a cotton or silk covering is generally much cooler.

As far as lowering the heat, since your body is generating it, the only real suggestion anyone could give you is to sleep with the window open, run a fan near you, or maybe change the bedding to satin or another material that disperses heat, rather than insulates.

That's weird. That's has never happened to me before. I have a 2 inch memory foam pad that I put over my mattress. I also have the memory foam pillows.

There are some suggestions on this page:

but there seem to be trade-offs between sleeping "cooler" and responsiveness of the mattress to your body shape.

you can put a waterproof sheet over the mattress, then a regular fitted sheet over that,It has worked great for us.
