It's a honeywell digital thermostat, T8401C 1015. I bought another honeywell RTH230B programmable thermostat to replace it. After following the wiring diagram, The programmable thermostat did not work; then I put my orginal one back on and it did not work. I thought it might be a wiring problem, but I don't think so, the unit is 1.5 years old, gas heater and ac unit. the furnace switch is on, breaker is not tripped, I know the thermostat is not faulty. I connect the wires as follows:

G = Green wire
W = White wire
Y = yellow wire
R= Red wire
C = Blue wire

Am I wiring incorrectly or is there something else? Thanks

I have a 12,000 BTU window A/C unit running right now on a semi dedicated line. The refrigerator is also on the line, and in this older house there is no other way to run the wires. An electrician already checked it out.

The wire is 12 gague and the fuses are 20 AMP. The fuse is getting warm in the breaker, not too hot to touch or blowing, but warm. (Last year we had an 8500 BTU unit running with the fridge, a/c, mic. and washing machine and a 30 amp fuse. That blew, and talk about an unknown fire hazard!)

It's very hot out and the A/C is needed for our child. Is a warm fuse unsafe or pushing it too far? I turn the unit off and let it cool for 15 minutes every hour.

I detect a distinct odor of raw sewage while in our back yard. Any thoughts on what it might be (yes, we have a septic system-and no it's not backing up into the basement.)

For the past week we have had horrible rainfall, and I am afraid my tomatoes are dying. My leaves are turning yellow and we've just had so much rain. Is there anything I can do?

We have recently bought our new house that has dark wooden floors. I like the wooden floors, but want to cheer up the place by lightening up the floors. Is this possible, if so, difficult?

Our 5 year old air conditioner is making a buzzing sound on the unit outside when it kicks on. It is still working find, cooling, cutting off when it should but this noise is LOUD! It sounds almost like I can hear the unit working fine, but there is this ancillary or additional buzzing sound too. What is this? Is it the motor or capacitor bad?

Ok...SO right now my guest bedroom is a pinkish/purple color--not pretty! The bedspread in the room is a dark, olive green color with maroon sheets, so I was thinking of painting the walls a dark red/maroon but the room is pretty small and dark so I was thinking maybe something a little lighter or brighter. Any suggestions?! Also suggestions for what color to paint the baseboards would be greatly appreciated also. Thanks for the help!!!

There's a light part screwed on the bottom with two ball chain pull-switches for light and fan. The fan one broke, so I took off the cover and it broke off even inside the little plastic switch box. Do I need to replace the whole light part? the little plastic switch to the fan only?
There's nothing to tie a string onto that I can find; not one single ball left!
