I live in Ohio where the temperature has been in the mid to upper 80's recently. When I get home from work, I turn on the air conditioner to 74 degrees for about 1 hour, then I turn it off. I work with kids all day and really need to cool down when I first get home.

My roommate says it costs a lot of money to turn the A/C on and off, but I feel that is if I'm leaving it on to cool to a low temperature, turning it off till it's hot again, then turning it back on. Either in dollars or a percentage, how is turning on the A/C for an hour or so per day likely to change my electric bill?

The house has two stories and a basement. Five small bedrooms altogether. It's an older house, probably from the early 20th century.

I have an old ribbon driveway (2 strips of concrete with grass between). I want a solid driveway and not just a fill-in strip. I'd also like to do most of the work myself, and just have the concrete delivered. My main question is can the concrete be poured over the existing ribbons or will they have to be dug up? And can you recommend any websites with detailed info on this kind of project? The only ones I've found so far assume I already know all about it. Thanks.

-She's potty training. Whats the best way to clean it and get rid of the stench? It's durapella fabric... Is it worth hiring someone to come out and clean it? Or would it be just as easy to try myself by renting a machine?

I repotted a hibiscus plant about three weeks ago and some buds have formed but as of yet no flowers? Watered everyday and receives 6 hours direct sunlight per day. Leaves are healthy and looks great overall. Is this normal?

I am putting vinyl siding on an older house. I took the old wood slats off the house leaving just the sheathing around the house since there was a lot of water damage and rot. When I put my siding on the sheathing, the foundation sticks out past the vinyl about 1/4-1/2 inch. Should I put flashing up or should I put j channel around the whole foundation. I do not want water to come down the side of the house, hit the foundation and rot my sill plate away over time. Thanks!

Curious as to know how much air conditioning would cost to cool a 300-350 hundred square thousand sized home for the summer, say even just 3 months, at around 22ish. Parents are cheap SoB's and say it costs too much to cool the house. Thanks.

I have too many things. Alot of which I think I should keep, but are taking up alot of room. I need advice from non-packrats. How do you know what to keep & not --in female prespective?

I have lots of old high school/chidhood pictures & albums, yearbooks, extra binders & folders, a couple expensive textbooks with very good material I would like to reference on, old cds, alot of makeup samples thats really good, a couple piggy banks, shoe boxes to make it easier to move when if I do, & alot of old clothes -- mostly keep because I dont have much $ to buy new ones, which clothes to keep tho & shoes?

The more details the better the advice! thanks!!
