Okay I live in Canada and in our winters we put road salt down on the roads to melt the ice and snow for better traction, and this salt gets on the tires of our vehicles. And this salt has been eating away at the pavement in our garage where we park the car, I was just wondering if anyone knew of a good sealer that we can put on to the garage floor to protect the cement from further erosion. Any help would be muchly apprechiated.

We have been having terrible problems with our central air conditioning unit. Our house is about 8 years old and we have a zone system (separate heating and cooling thermostats for upstairs and downstairs). For the past 2 years the unit is not cooling the house properly (heating works fine). We had the dampers replaced 2 years ago and I know the dampers are fine. We have had several repair technicians look at the unit. They always recharge the unit with more Freon (3 times in 1 summer) after claiming to fix a leak. This past weekend again a repair person claimed that we had an internal leak in the unit. He said that he had plugged the leak and then he charged the unit with Freon. Not only did this not work (our house continued to get hotter from 73F to 85F while AC was running all day) the pipe coming from the unit outside our house was all frozen over with ice (all the way to where the insulation started).
Any suggestions or help will be appreciated. Thank you.

I have weeping tile for drainage. The area near the drainage holes stays wet, my plumber told me to leave a fan or dehumidifire on, what would be the best option? What kind of fan or dehumidifire is best? or any other thoughts to make dry this area? That area looks very ugly due to white spots on the cement and cement is coming off, can I paint this area or any other suggestion?
Thanks in advance

I'd love to make her cake, something a little more than an iced sponge cake would be good, but I have no idea where to start!!

Although I am reasonably proficient in the kitchen, I am by no means an experienced cake decorator. Does anyone have any good ideas (with instructions please!) for a simple but effective cake? I was wondering about perhaps the hedgehog cake that was so impressive when we were younger... or a duck, or a ladybird would go down well with my daughter. Or a flower, seeing as her name is Daisy!

Pennies are limited at the moment, so buying fancy cake tins is out.

Many thanks for your ideas!

I'm doing an exterior job and have came to the last side of the house. i have found the paint is coming off in large (very large) strips. rezembling vinyl stickers. they can stretch the length of the clapboards. it's peeling to the wood, primer and all. my first thought is vapor failure. needing to prime the inside with vapor barrier (B>I>N). does this sound right? how should i handle the outside? completely remove? or stop and deal with the inside?
maybe it's a whole different problem... primed on very wet wood? this house hasn't been painted in 7-8 years and started to peel within 2 years last time
any thoughts would be greatly appriciated.
thank you
lj

Even one's that don't require staking. Is it possible my garden soil is lacking something? I have mostly drought tolerant plants, like purple coneflower, butterfly weed, shasta daisy etc. I don't hardly ever water because, last year I thought too much watering was what made them flop. My garden gets about six hours of sun light.
