I just got a leather couch from a friend that smokes. At his house I never noticed, since the whole house smelled like it. Now I moved it to my house (non-smoking) and my living room smells like a cheap motel. We’ve sprayed under the cushions (the cloth part) with Febreeze several times. It is probably a little better, but not enough. Is it even possible to get rid of the smell of stale cigarettes, or am I just SOL?

My bedroom is very broing. The walls are white, but I am painting them light blue soon. After I paint the walls, I want to do some simple decorating on the walls. I want these to be fun, simple, creative, and HOMEMADE; but still look nice. I like the colors light blue, light pink, light purple, and light green. Please also keep in mind that I am 14.
Thank you! ♥ Emily

At the moment we're looking into buying some property in France in the village of St. Croix, near Villefranche de Rouergue. There is a large barn(which we would renovate into a house) and quite a bit of surrounding garden and the price is very reasonable. I'd just like to know of other peoples experience of buying houses(or preferably old buildings and renovating them) in France. We already have someone who is an architect and would like to take on the project so thats something we don't have to worry about. What kind of questions should we be asking,or what things should we be doing? We're in good contact with the person who is selling and have visited the property several times. We live in Ireland for most of the year,so one of the things would be how to manage the property while we weren't living in it. Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Bissell vacuum cleaner, but I think it's just like any vacuum cleaner. I didnt notice the bag was full and of course I kept using it and it caused a clog in the hose. Does anyone know how to removed the clog? I dont know if it matters but it's mostly clogged with dog hair. I've tried taking a wire coat hanger and pusing it into the hose. I put a curve in the end but all that happened was I pulled out a straight hanger, no hair.

I went on the roof to do a routine inspection, and found that there was a small hole (about 3/4 inch to an inch) going through 2 (overlapped) shingles, and I believe it went through the roof. I'm not sure of the best way to attack this. Is there some repair kit at the home depot or something that I can pick up? Thank you.

Hi. I love strawberries, but they're not readily available here in Tobago. I can't get seeds, nor the plants, although I can buy strawberries (occasionally!). Can I grow a plant from an existing strawberry, and if so, how! Thanks in advance for your help!

I have installed a light fixture with a transformer and it is making this loud buzzing noise.

1- Did i install it wrong? (But the lights worked for a while.. when i did the final installation it stopped working.. may be a wire got loose or something? Would the lights work if the installation was wrong? Buzzing continues even though the light does not work. I shut it off for now to be safe...)

2- Is it normal for a transformer to make a loud buzzing noise?

3- I bundled up all the black cables(4 wires going into individual branches) from the fixture and connected to what i thought was black cable into transformer and i bundled up all white wires(4 wires) and connected to white cable into transformer. I made sure no black wires touch black wires...If i connected the wires wrong terminal into transformer.. wouyld that contribute to loud noise??

4- How would i know if the transformer was damaged by a faulty installation?

Thanks alot.

Occasionally my dogs have an accident on the kitchen linoleum, and when I clean it up it leaves a bleached like spot. How can I clean my floor so i don't have spots all over the place? I never realized their urine would be so strong as to strip floors!
The linoleum is old and I've tried bleach, Pine Sol and other cleaners of that nature to no avail. It doesn't smell, just spots! Help!!

If you go to a garden centre and buy a tomato plant, the soil has these little white balls in it. What is it? I've gotten conflicting information whenever I've asked someone. One person told me it was styrofoam, another said it was gypsum.
