Our basement is primarily finished with that cheap, wood paneling, painted white.

Now, it doesn't look all that bad, and I'm not concerned with a super professional look here...

but is there a way to minimize the appearance of the cracks prior to painting?

I'm relating this to the same function joint compound has for sheetrock.

What might work? Or is it hopeless?

Thanks.

ps: I'm not going to use wallpaper.

For the past month everything water is touching has slowly been turning rust colored. Clothes are coming out with rust stains, the washing machine, toilets, sinks and dishwasher are turning that orange rust color. I am on a well and do have a water softener. What could be causing it-something in the water? Something with the water softener or water heater? I don't know if I need to call a water softener person, a plumber or if there is something I can try on my own. Please help!!

Ok, this is weird. I owned a Hoover carpet cleaner for many years and NEVER had this happen.
This was given to me as a gift (Bissell Pro Heat), yes a gift, and I use the recommended solution for it, and even used the Walmart Brand solution too. I have a beige carpet and most of the times when the carpet dries, there are light brown spots.
They are horrible looking and when I go over it, again, it gets worst.
I have used cold water in the machine and not using the heat, and I've used the hot water, and still spots appear.
Why is this?
Anyone else out there had this problem?

You know, like Tetley, Lipton, Luzianne, Red Rose,
regular black or orange pekoe tea???
What's the name of the plant?
Nobody has it. Where can I get it in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale?
What conditions does the plant like?
Do I have to cure the leaves before drinking?

I have a spare matress and I am thinking of getting some mdf cut at the local timber merchants - with the intention of making a base for it. The thing is, in order for it to slide easily under another bed (for storage) I need wheels on the bottem. Where can I get such wheels? And will my idea work???????

We dont have money to re-carpet right now, and there is old brown carpet in the living room. Its in good condition, just not my favorite look. Is there anything I can do to improve the look of the carpet besides buying an area rug or putting in new carpet? Any tips?

I remember seeing a gardener using a tool once to cut the grass in our backyard because he didn't want to deal with hauling the lawn mower back there. Maybe it was a weed wacker? What equipment do you recommend I use instead of dealing with a big lawn mower to cut grass?

I am not sure what it is called but in our area no one builds rock houses because of the cost but someone told me that the rock houses I see here are actually rocks that have been sliced and put up for looks. How expensive is this in Alabama compared to actual rock.

I planted a few Hyacinth (blue, Jacinto) in my flower bed. According to the care instructions it said part sun, medium water which I followed exactly..They bloomed and were very attractive then the buds died and now they are just green leaves in my garden. Will they bloom again or should I just remove them from the garden all together?

i want to build an extension on my house. i have a driveway that i want my extension to extend over. so that it is kinda on stilts off the driveway, the driveway is not wide enough to take a full width garage and i would prefer it to be like a car port. to access this extension a door would be placed at the top of the stairs at the site of an existing window anyhow my question is,

is there any legal reasons in both planning and construction law to prevent the building of such a structure?

also. how much, without electrical and plumbing? "i can do that"

I just planted a garden in my backyard, I live in northern california in the valley & the area gets full sun.

I planted rasberries on a mound in one corner, I planted 3 watermelon plants in one mound then another mound with 2 Ambrosia melon plants, then 3 raised rows with corn, peas, and peppers.

My questions are thease:
IS there anything SPECIAL I have to do to thease plants?
( Besides water and pick weeds)
Do you think they will produce fruit. vegtables this season?
Because I dont know if I planted them too late?
The area is 25 feet by 10 feet, do you think this is enough room?
Any suggestions and hints are appreciated, this is my first time growing something that produces fruit or vegtables :)

My friend has recently given me his old zippo lighter as I want to start collecting them. Trouble is it is engraved with his ex-girlfriend's name! Is there any way that this can be taken off of the metal surface (and perhaps with my name put over the top?). Worst comes to worst I'll just scratch it off I suppose but am after a neater finish. Thanks!

I have a flower bed right outside my window. Every night a cricket camps out there and "chirps" all nite. It is surprisingly load and keeps me awake. When I go out there (at 3am!) to find it and put it out of my misery, it shuts up and I cant find it. So I cant kill it b/c I cant find it. Then as soon as I go inside and lay my head down...25 seconds later here goes the chirping again. It is very, very annoying.

What can I do to stop this? Is there some treatment I can put in my flower bed that wont kill my plants but will either kill crickets or prevent them from choosing *THAT* particular location to loudly announce their stupid mating call all nite? Thank you in advance!
