You may be using too short or too floppy a blade. The Lennox metal cutting blade is stiff and will make short work of posts.

I will take a guess that the pipe is heavy Gage not light gage, Saw Zall will take forever, simply use a skill saw with a abrasive blade, they are very inexpensive and have no teeth, wear goggles and gloves and make one straight cut because you can not alter cut line in middle of cut without blade exploding, hope this helps. Source 30 years contractor. ps time to cut pipe #40 seconds and expect Sparks.....

Yhe tool is called a Port-A-Band. It is simply a handheld portable band-saw. They can cost alot to buy but try to tent one, it shouldn't be more than $40 per day but you could easily get 100 cuts done in a day and not dull the blade. I use one all the time and only takes 45 seconds to cut a straigh cut through a 4" rigid steal conduit. (bigger than what you described and harder)

I would use a grinder with a metal cut off abrasive blade.

recip saw worked fine for me. try pressing hard against the pipe with the part of the saw where the balde is connected and rotate horizontally into the pipe, or make some wicked sparks and quick work with a grinder

4-41/2" grinder with abrasive wheel. wear gloves and eye protection but works well. Keep your skin and face covered for safety.
