How much does air conditiong cost?

Question

Curious as to know how much air conditioning would cost to cool a 300-350 hundred square thousand sized home for the summer, say even just 3 months, at around 22ish. Parents are cheap SoB's and say it costs too much to cool the house. Thanks.

I assume you are trying to say 3,500 square foot house.

It would cost quite a bit, but I imagine the heating bill would be more.

I'd guess without air around $170
With air $240-$260

Units can cost between 1,500 and 4,000 dollars. A window unit can be purchased from wal-mart for 200-300 dollars instead and a window unit may use less electricity than a regular unit. I know when I lived in a approximately 880 sq. ft. house, our electric bill was 275.00 dollars for one month and we hardly ran the air. Shading has a lot to do with it. If you want my opinion, a window unit keeps things quite cool and may run for a lot less!! Ours has digital controls and a remote. We never turn it off and I am perfect all the time. It's in the living room of a 900 square foot house and I never get hot, not even in other rooms of the house.
