Drink lots of water, and find something to do until it cools down.

As soon as the sun goes down, you should open up all your windows, and set a box fan upstairs to blow out and use other fans to blow on your body. As soon as the sun comes up, close the windows and pull the drapes.

You may find that one room in your house is cooler than the others -- so, if the living room is the coolest, try sleeping there.

Another thing you can do (if it isn't too humid) is set up a wet sheet, and have the fan blow on it -- it will make a kind of primitive airconditioner.

Take an ice pack (like you put in a cooler), wrap a towel around it and use it as a pillow.

Your body will get used to the hot in a week or so, so just do your best until then. Oh, but try not to be in air-conditioning during the day, or dress warmly if you have to be in it. Otherwise your body will just get really confused.

BTW, if you have concrete or gravel outside your house, sprinkling it with water in the evening will also help cool down your house, the surroundings, and any breezes.

Well, where I am 83 degrees is not hot so my only suggestion is to get a fan if you can't get AC. If you can't get a fan the instead of just cracking a window, open them all and see if you can get a cross breeze through your house. I'm sorry you are hot, but you really should look into getting a fan somehow before it gets any hotter.

Borrow about $20 & go to Dollar General or Family Dollar & buy yourself two box fans. Put one in your bedroom at night so you can sleep. During the day, use the fans in the part of your house where you spend the most time.

I am in a similar predicament. This might sound indecent...but I sleep in my bra and shorts sometimes...No blankets...lock the door...
