suddenly our central air does not work. the unit does not kick on, nor does the fan. We also have forced air heat and that does not work either. What should we check, and any ideas what it might be?

I'm planning to replace a tile floor in a walk-in cooler. The tile is being replaced because the wood subfloor under it is rotten and saturated from a leak in the ceiling. So the subfloor has been perpetually wet for a very long time (years I would guess). My question is, can mold grow in refridgerated temperatures inside this restaurants cooler?

We are currently sorting our garden out (recently moved in) and we have come across rhubarb and have tried without success to get rid of it. We are anxious to get rid of this as we want to lay turf over it. I have heard it is very difficult to get rid of. Has anyone had any success at getting rid of this once and for all?

I ordered several bare root trees from a mail order company and when I recd them most were broken. I planted them anyway and though I haven't seen any sign of life from most of them. I have 2 that seem to be growing from the base of the tree or the roots. Are these trees going to grow normal even though the central stem is broken? I do well with plants but with trees I am a greenhorn. By the way, 2 are fruit trees and the others are shade trees. Thanks for any help

Navy Blue, Chocolate brown, Tangerine for example. They are all flat finish. I want to return them to an off-white flat finish. Iam willing to prime first, but I've done three coats of primer in one room and it still isn't white! Any suggestions on technique or brands?

Thanks,
Craig

For the last couple weeks it has been hot. My outside AC broke. I have had a few quotes, ranging from $2500 up to $4000. I think this is outrageous, however I understand equipment and time can be expensive for some. My goal is to replace this as inexpensive and effectively as possible. I am told I have a "dual coil unit", which I am led to believe my indoor hardware and outdoor fan/box hardware needs to be ripped and replaced. I am led to believe my outside fan box is the broken part. Why not just replace that?

I would like to know if possible

1) Is Trane, the brand unit I have, universally interchangeable with non-Trane hardware
2) Can I just replace the outdoor Fan/box (I call it that, you know the square grey unit with fan which is installed outside for AC).

I would love to be able to acquire just that part, if interchangeable, used/new, and get the AC running as cheaply as possible. It is over 10 years old made in 1993. The model # is TTR060C100A0. Options? :-) TY!!

I'm trying to grow tomatoes and strawberries right now and I was wondering if I can use my miracle grow for tomatoes on my strawberries as well? It says its specially formulated for tomatoes and vegetables. But strawberries aren't vegetables. Any suggestions will be helpful.

ours is the first level one so EVERYONE turns around in it. It is making the drive a mess. Cars leave their tire marks on it and one day a truck knocked over our trash can and left it there. We want to put up a gate but our house is too close to the street and it will look silly - any ideas? It is making me nuts. We have a nice house and want to keep it that way.

We have this thermostat at work and it was programmed by someone long ago and now no one really knows how to get it to keep cooler air coming as it has been set to run various programs and now we dont need those programs we just need it to run.

Is there anyway to "purge" the programs that are in so it can just be turned off and on to cool when need be?

Thanks

Ever since I moved to Texas (hard water) five years ago I have been ruining my colored bathroom hand/face towels. They quickly develop multiple tan to orange spots that eventually discolor most of the towel. It happens to a lesser degree with the bath towel and even pillow cases. This makes me think there is something on my hands and face but I only use a small amount of standard Neutrogena-type products and have switched products many times without an end to the problem.

Of note, my clothes, comforter and furniture are never discolored which would seem to support the face lotion possibility. I also wonder if it could be water-related since it never happened beforeTexas and the towels are always used to dry my hands and face during the day. Or maybe its a combination. But no one I know ever has this problem despite using the same water and similar skin care products.

Has anyone ever heard of this kind of thing before?

I was told years ago not to mess with the ceiling vents. But one bathroom is much colder than the rest of our two story house.
It has two outside ac units and is a 4500 square foot home.
