If your A/C is tuned properly, you will see a difference of 20* between the air going into the unit, and air coming out of the unit. The A/C will run until the thermostat says that it is 67 degrees AT THE THERMOSTAT.
If the air in your room is entering the unit at 70*, the air coming out of the register should be 50*.
Your set point is 67? is there a reason for this? Can you see your breath? I have the furnace come on if the temp gets below 68 (as it did this morning).

An air conditioning unit removes the heat from the air going across the coils. The temperature drops around 20 degrees. The cooler air is pushed into the home, as more warm air is drawn into your air handler. This cycle continues, until the thermostat tells the unit that the room has been cooled to 67 degrees. It will rest until the thrmostat senses that the air has heated up to 69 degrees, then it will come on again, and remove the heat until the thermostat reads 67 degrees once more.

the thermostat might be set at 67 degrees but there are other factors involved, the age of house is it well insulated,do you have any air leaks in your vent,do you keep the curtains closed during the day.your type of windows are they energy efficient, use a thermometer and place it at the vent in a good system, the temperature coming out of vent if set at 67 will be around 67 degrees.

If you have a natural gas system, the lowest temp (t-stat set on cooling) will be 54 degrees and the highest will be(t-stat set on heat) 120 degrees.

If you have a heat pump, cooling will be the same, heat side will be less than 100 degrees.
