I don't have laundry detergent and I have to wash clothes or I have nothing to wear. I couldn't find anything online about this.

There is a washing machine and drying machines that I can use downstairs. I just have to put in a dollars worth of quarters, which I have.

What can I do if I don't have immediate access to detergent? Can I use my bathroom soap or anything to make up for that?

I've been skimming huge quantities of duckweed from my pond and have added it to my compost heap. It stinks, even though I covered it with lawn clippings. Has anyone got a method of disposing of the weed that is less smelly?

I can't really afford the move in ready homes in my area. They are worth more than 350K for a 1200 sq. foot home. I've seen a few homes that are around 200-250K. However, they are very rundown. Often they were homes of elderly people, and are very dated. Think rundown 60's and 70's decor. Most of the kitchens and bathrooms need to be ripped out and completely redone. The carpets need to be ripped up and hardwood put down.

Right now, I have about 30K saved for a down payment. If I purchase on of these homes, how would I go about financing these projects. If do these repairs well, I could double the value of these homes.

I have my room painted recently, its called Tea Green http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_Green so you can see the color by following the link. I am trying to redecorate my room, I want it to be a minimalist, asian look. I am having light colored wood flooring put in and I am wondering what colors should I put in the room? Right now I have black drapes and I don't know if I should keep them or replace them. I also have a tan bedding that I would like to keep. So my question is, can I keep my black drapes, light brown bedding in my pale tea green room? And if not what should I replace it with?

My original thoughts were to use some natural wooden furniture along with some black shelving and add in a few shades of brown with pillows and stuff. I am really going for a minimal look and trying to keep it toned down and natural looking.

Any thoughts?

I live in a rural area across from a forest. The local cottontails are very cute, "mow" my lawn and nibble my plants. Lately they've been digging up all my spring bulbs...over 500 of them (bulbs, that is)! This is the 1st time I've had this problem (here for 3 years). How do I keep them out of the unfenced yard without hurting them?

We've just moved into a house which has a backyard waterfall. We have never had one before and there is no owner's manual, so we have no idea how to operate it.
We filled the pond with water and turn the switch on, and the waterfall worked fine--for a couple hours.
The water dried up in the upper part of the waterfall, and the pump (?) started making noises.
Does our waterfall have leak?

We have a summer cabin, we're thinking of leaving the AC about 78 deg. while were gone to keep it cool. If we come up it can be almost 90 inside if we have it off then it runs non stop and never gets below 80 for the week were there. Were there on average 15 out of the 30 days a month. What do you think will cost less?

We are currently considering building an addition on our home but go back and forth with whether it would be better to just move. We are looking at converting an existing attached 2 car garage into a large rec room and building a new 2-car garage in front of the old one. We have the available space to do this. We're also thinking about remodeling the kitchen at the same time and building a full bathroom (we currently have a half bath that would then become a walk-in pantry and/or coat closet? We don't have a basement.

The next step up in homes in the area that might have a basement and are about 15-20 years newer than our current home are about $100k-$250k more in price.

It might also be noteworthy that we currently have a 5% 30-year mortgage with equity available for a home equity loan.

We inherited an old grill and an old rusty looking tank. I want to get rid of both. I'm ok with giving away the grill, but I'm worried that the tank could be dangerous. Can I take it to one of those 'blue rino' places? Would they give me anything for it (if I don't want to exchange/buy another tank)? What does one do with suspicious-looking half-filled propane tanks anyway? Thanks!

We have to set the dial to heat and turn the temp dial real low to turn it off. When we set it to off it still runs.
When we do have it running, if you lower the temp dial to below the actual temp, it still won't cut off. If we don't turn it off manually, it would run all the time. Anyone know a fix?
