We've just moved into a house which has a backyard waterfall. We have never had one before and there is no owner's manual, so we have no idea how to operate it.
We filled the pond with water and turn the switch on, and the waterfall worked fine--for a couple hours.
The water dried up in the upper part of the waterfall, and the pump (?) started making noises.
Does our waterfall have leak?

Open the link below to see a diagram of the installation process. That will help you find the leek....it is necessay that you know how it works in order to understand where to look .
There are several methods of repairing once you find the problem.
For the waterfall it could be a hose/pipe that has a hole in it or the liner of the fall has a hole or the foam in between the rocks needs to be replaced.
Check the liner around the skimmer you can purchase a small tube of aquarium sealant at walmart for about $5 to put around the skimmer.

Big time leak that won't allow the water to cycle through the pump. As for the noise from the pump, its prob. burnt a bearing. Sorry.

yes.. it sounds like it does! what kind of water fall is it.. is it in ground? can you see really wet dirt?? check where the pump pumps the water back into the pond.... that might be the problem also... there should be like a spout kinda thing.. make sure that is in the pond not on the ground good luck!
