What is the formula for determing the length of each side of an octagonal shaped strawberry bed if opposing sides are five feet apart? Since it will be a three-tiered bed, made of 2 x 10, how long will the sides of the second level be, for it to be one foot smaller than the bottom level, and also the third level?

I have Laurel bushes and also Connifers the Laurels seem more hardy than the Conifers.As I am on a water metre I wondered if I should plant all Laurels. As once conifers start to die off from the bottom they don't revive

Our bed has wooden slats in it and when the slats were bought they were mesured for the bed, but I am not sure when they were purchsed, I got the bed from my parents and they have had the bed for a while. The slats fit when we put them in and we are not sure why they fall. How can I keep the slats from falling out. We still live in an apartment and will move often until we are able to get a house or put this bed in the guest room so I need something that can be easily taken apart! Thanks for any help!

Here’s one for you — I recently got a Brinkmann Electric Smoker, which does not have an inline temperature control. It’s set at a constant 250 degrees, with a 1500 watt heating element that has a grounded three-prong plug that requires a 120 volt outlet.

I’d like to use a plug-in dimmer switch to control the heat of the smoker, because different meats could use a slightly lower cooking temperature (say, 210 degs rather than 250).

I see from an online search that such switches are available, but they’re obviously intended for use in lamps. I’m assuming that they might not be sufficiently heavy-duty to be used by the grounded heating element — is that a correct assumption?

What components should I get, and how should I wire it?
