if its oil base, use thinner... if its latex, use goof off or a paint remover from homedepot

If the paint was latex, paint thinner is not the way to go. Lacquer thinner will get it off. Oil based paint will come off with paint thinner if it isn't more than a couple days old. Other than that, scrapeing.

For small amounts of latex paint, I like to use alcohol, or fingernail polish remover.

if it's latex.. did u try soaking it w/ really hot water? Sometimes that is enough to have it soften that it would peel off.

you can probably scrape it of with a plastic putty knife depending on what type of paint it is.
