ours is the first level one so EVERYONE turns around in it. It is making the drive a mess. Cars leave their tire marks on it and one day a truck knocked over our trash can and left it there. We want to put up a gate but our house is too close to the street and it will look silly - any ideas? It is making me nuts. We have a nice house and want to keep it that way.

A gate, however inconvenient for you, would stop the traffic on your drive. There are very nice gates you can buy and have installed. Other than that.........

You really cannot stop them. It is your private property and you do have a say so as to who enters it, but they're probably in and out long before you can do anything about it.

Anything you do to make turning around in your driveway inconvenient for them will also make it inconvenient for you to use your own driveway.

You may consider putting some very large stones at the corners of the driveway. It will add some landscape appeal and make quickly pulling in and out more of a chore.

You could always park your cark toward the end of the driveway for a few weeks to deter the regulars, but you'll never totally eleminate the odd motorist that made a wrong turn and needs to turn around.

Put an object in the way of the driveway so the cars turning will have to make a wider turn.

If you also have a public sidewalk in front of your house, it would be illegal to park a car in a manner that obstructs that public right-of-way.

As inconvenient as it is, buy a cheap vehicle and park it in front of the driveway. Just be sure it will start, when you want access.:)

If you don't want to do a gate, you could use a chain on posts similar to those line dividers at the bank. It could be white or black, or any color, and you could hang a cute little hand made sign in the middle saying something like "No public access", "No Trespassing" or "Please stay off the daisies".

Park your car at the end of the driveway so people can't turn around in it anymore.

My immediate neighbors and I are in the same position.

What they did was build fences with gates. You might want to look around for a fencing that would good with your house, though.

Good luck!
