my unit runs steady. its in good cindition. HelP! this AC unit is in my home.

Obviously, you don't have a programmable thermostat. I would set it to a higher setting. Or use a portable fan as backup, but that will only circulate the air in the house, not going to give you cold/cool air. Are you sure there is cool air coming out of the vents, maybe you need some freon. You would have to call a plumber and see if you have a leak, or are just low on freon.

Most AC units manufactured within the last 10-15 years, cycle on and off to keep the temp. at whatever setting you select on the thermostat. If you don't want the compressor to run all the time, move the temp. selector to a lower setting. Then when that setting is reached, the compressor will kick off and just the fan will run. When the temp. starts to get up above the setting you've selected again, the compressor will kick back on and the cycle will start over.

Look for the knob that says "warmer - cooler." With the room at a comfortable temperature, slowly turn this knob in the direction of "Warmer" until you hear a click and the compressor goes off. When the room temperature gets warmer than this point, the unit will come back on. You can leave the fan running to circulate the air in the room.

you set the temp. thingie at a higher temp so it's not trying to maintain a meat locker temp.
