A couple of years ago I happened upon a site that gave instructions on everything from how to plant a rose bush, refinish furniture, paint, how to fix an appliance and so on. I did not save the address and wondering if anyone has the answer. I found it strictly by looking for information on a particular project I was wanting to do and all this other useful information came up

I think that there is a sock or something clogging my sink drain. All chemical drain clearing products have not worked. Does anyone know how much it costs to have a plumber come to your house and fix this problem?? Better yet, does anyone know how to fix this problem??

I think the cause is my front load washing machine has left soap residue in them. I've tried washing them reapeatedly with/without detergent, but there still is a musty smell.. When they come out of the drier they smell great but as soon as you get them wet the smell returns. They are high quality towels and I have brand new Maytag front load washer and drier.

He was using our riding mower, and he's not that bright, and somehow didn't notice. The WHOLE black plastic garbage bag wrapped around the thing that holds the blade on, and while I was able to get about 14 inches out and cut away, the rest is stuck in a crevice that runs all the way around the pole (I'm not too lawnmower literate) that holds the blade on, and seems to have actually been sucked down into crevice. Does anybody have any idea on what I could do to get it out? I'm not too mechanical, so I don't have a whole lot of options that involve anything too sophisticated mechanically.

Thank you.

Would you buy a house with a small lounge and kitchen (really small) and a north facing back garden if it was in the perfect location.

I have the chance to buy a house in a location that I have wanted to live in for the past ten years. I dont think the chance to move there will come up again. The location is perfect. I love it and the house is beautiful. The only thing is that on the ground floor there is only a tiny lounge and a small kitchen. There would be no room for a dining table unless I put a conservatory on the back. Also the back garden faces north which I worry about.

Do you think that the location is more important then the house. As I say I have tried to move there for the last ten years, and I do think this house is beautiful, its just tiny. Please help ?

I'm remodeling a 30X22 foot room. It's a kitchen and living room all in one, but not my main living room and no TV.

The challenge with this room is the windows. There are 7 windows plus french doors. 4 of these windows are 6 feet tall and only 2 feet wide. They all currently have 2" wood slat blinds. I think I want to dress up the windows, but don't know what to do with the skinny windows. I'm not crazy about valances in general. My style is casual contemporary leaning toward traditional, but the kitchen is going to be ultra-modern with a 9X7 foot island.

What can a person do with this many windows PLUS having these narrow windows?

I was going to build a small wall today with breeze blocks.

I had everything I needed here, and I downloaded instructions on how to mix the mortar.
3 parts sand
1 part cement
water and a squirt of washing up liquid.

But when I tried to use the mortar, it was like wet sand.
It wouldn't stick to the blocks, and it wouldn't hold them together. Even when it had dried.
In fact, even now when I lift one of the blocks off, I can crumble the remains of the mortar off it quite easily with my thumb.

What did I do wrong?
Too much sand and not enough cement?

I did notice that when I applied the mortar to the block, it seemes to suck all the moisture out of it, leaving me with a crumbly sandy mixture.
Should I have wet the blocks with water before building with them to prevent them from soaking up the water from the mortar?

I have been locked in mortal combat with a gopher in my front lawn for three years.

I have tried everything to win the ultimate victory. When I put one of those "bombs" that you light and stick in the gopher hole, not only did it not kill him, it pissed him off, and I found the unburned remnants pushed out of the hole.

Is this the original resistant rodent gopher from hell, or am I battling one of his progeny who has taken up the fight?

I live in Ontario, Canada. I have some bulbs that I would like to plant (Gladiolous & lillies). I heard somewhere that you need to dig them up before it gets too cold outside. Is this true? If so, are there any alternatives to doing this? I don't have anywhere indoors that I could put a whole garden of bulbs. What do I need to know about growing bulbs in this kind of climate?
