A couple of years ago I happened upon a site that gave instructions on everything from how to plant a rose bush, refinish furniture, paint, how to fix an appliance and so on. I did not save the address and wondering if anyone has the answer. I found it strictly by looking for information on a particular project I was wanting to do and all this other useful information came up

Hi Bonnie,. by now I have to believe there are hundreds of such sites, even if not the exact. One you might try, which I find valid for multiple issues is "About.com"
You can also get more info than you might ever be able to absorb from "This Old House" web site.
